and type in someone's first and last name

and they are registered to vote at the address they currently live (as is legally required by the state of north carolina)

and they have a somewhat unique name (i'm the only one with mine in north carolina)

congratulations, they have been doxxed by the state of north carolina for doing the literal bare minimum of things that are necessary to vote! there is their real address, right there! for all the world to see! with just a first and last name! not even a birthday

for most of my adult life, i have been willing to tolerate this because i weighed that voting was more important to me than safety and privacy

i am a trans woman and the scale has now tipped the other way. today i am going to the buncombe county board of elections office and filing the form to cancel my voter registration, because i am moving within the county this year and my choices are either 1) continue to get doxxed to vote 2) break the law by registering to vote at an address i don't actually live at

many US states are like this and no one can convince me that it is anything other than voter suppression

first and last name, that's it.

March 26th update: it worked, turning in that form removed my address from the voter registration website
